Default What Mini-Starter for 11:1CR 540?

Who has had good luck with a mini-starter on a high-compression BB and what brand are you using? Any bad brands to stay away from? Thanks.

I use the OEM Corvette PMGR starters on my cars. Reasonably priced at swap meets, and I trust the quality/durability of these more than the aftermarket starters. These are only for the 153 tooth ring gear flywheels though.

I've used the basic Summit one for years on my 540/555. It's a CSR brand I think.. but basically it's a Nippondenso style starter that is a great design. It's really nice to get the version with the adjustable end plate where the starter can be rotated to different positions to clear headers/oil pans etc.

this is the best way, but the starter will fit both BB and SB engines,...not limited to any particular application

I have a 168 tooth flywheel.

I may have lucked out. A friend has an MSD one, still in the box. I won't know for a couple of days what it is or how much.

I'm aware of that. One is on my 427 and the other is on my 355. Both with 153 tooth flywheels obviously.
