Default Heater/ac control

I need to replace the light in the heat/ac control in the console. The Chevy shop manual says to remove the screws in the console carpet panels, the Haynes manual says to remove screws from the console bezel. My 79 was one of the later ones built, did they make a change and the panels are held in by clips? Any ideas?

If you remove the small gauge bezel in the center, at the very top is a twist in bulb holder with a special bulb, it shines down on the heater control.

There are two screws coming up from the bottom front of the shifter console plate into the bottom of the center gauge bezel, can be accessed from either side with the console side carpeted pieces removed
