Needle bearing in 10si alternator wrong?
Hi, I'm rebuilding the alternator in my 70 Coupe. Got a rebuild kit from alternatorparts.com, as well as this bearing set:
http://store.alternatorparts.com/522...e-bearing.aspx
which it said was right for this alternator. I pressed the needle bearing out of the stator side and it had what looks like it once may have been a seal, along with the bearing. The new bearing doesn't have it as you can see in the pics. Thought maybe the new bearing didn't use the seal but with the seal, the new bearing is slightly shorter than the old, and without it it's slightly taller. So it's going to sit slightly lower in the boss w/o a seal, but a seal probably wouldn't work as it would protrude from the boss.
I'm not sure if this is OK, or if the grease will work it's way out. Anyone ever use this bearing before?
