Default 1 year old gasoline in my 80 vette

I have gasoline in my car that is about 11 months old with half a tank full. Car has been sitting in the garage. There are no fuel stabilizers in it. I know I should siphon out the old gas. But I am going to ask a silly question. What are the impacts of the old fuel if I use it or if I mix it with new fuel and add some octane booster?

Let me know what you guys think.

Odds are that the gas is just fine as-is. Gas degrades quickly when exposed to open atmosphere. Your gas tank is about as sealed as it gets.

Go fill it up and enjoy your ride. The gas will be OK.

I have had gas in my LS swapped car for almost 2 years now. It fires right up. Probably not. The best fuel in there but I will fill it up soon with fresh fuel.

To be on the safe side....remove the gas cap and take a sniff...

if the gas has a slight "old varnish odor", siphon it all out.....

if not add some "premium grade" gasoline to top off the tank and have fun!

If you "sniff the gas", I'm not sure what the results might be.

Just fire it up....

Depends on the smell as to the results.

Drive it to the gas station and fill'er up!Next time you are going to let it sit for a long time,do it with a full tank, less chance of condensation affecting the fuel or inside of the tank.

Just fill it up with fresh gas after you fire it up and add some stabile next time. You should have no issues with 1 year old gas.

Condensation with a sealed tank and cap like our Corvettes doesn't exist.

That would explain why my 45 year old tank looked new inside (with the exception of a few stains on the inside-bottom)....now the outside was covered with small "rust-scabs" that a wire wheel/buffer took care of.

Gas has a longer shelf life then people realize. Exxon had an article on it and the key is to keep it sealed , I am NOT saying it never goes bad it does but I have used year old gas and it was perfectly fine. I am also the only guy I know who will not run his lawn equipment out of gas at the end of the year and I am the only guy who never has had a issue with any of my engines.

My close friends snow blower revs slows , revs slows ,He is Mr **** on leaving it dry 9 months of the year cause gas goes bad don't ya know . Mine purrs like a kitten year after year with gas at least a season old I top them off for storage not drain them......
