Default Thinking of switching from Magnaflow to Flowmaster Thoughts!?

Anyone out there with a cam that has either magnaflow or flowmaster....im assuming yes?

I am thinking of making the switch this weekend to Flowmaster Super 44s or their 40 Series.

The magnaflows are great and sound awesome but the idle is quieter than I would like expecially with a cam in the car.

Is it true that there is better performance out of Magnaflows than Flowmasters? I have heard that Magnaflows have better flow with about 5-10 more HP so that is what I went with them is that true?

Thoughts

Don't know about HP numbers but everything I've read says that Magnaflow flow's better than flowmaster. If all you're looking for is sound then a lot of people do prefer the flowmaster, I still prefer the magnaflow for sound and performance...

I have Magnaflow mufflers, and I like them, and I don't know if the Flowmaster mufflers are louder, but they have a tinny, raspy, percussive sound, makes me think of a snare drum, a lot of people seem to like that sound. Go for it, you can always switch back if you don't like 'em, mufflers don't cost that much.

Every motor will sound a little different
Compression, cam timing affects it quite a bit

Get the muffler that you like the sound of dont think youll feel a difference unless youre pushing an absolute TON of power

My 427 BBC with cam and Flowmasters sounded great but the noise on the freeway was so loud my ears would be ringing after a 30 minute drive.

The Magnaflows are tame, but still sound great at idle. Pretty mellow on the freeway but wake up when the go pedal is used.

Plus the Magnaflows outflow the Flowmasters and with Longtubes I wanted more power.

Magnaflow have quiet and deep sound at idle and low rpm but have high decibel sound at open throttle and high rpm, Borla have deep and laughter sound at idle and low rpm but low decibel sound at open throttle and high rpm.

I have Hedman long tubes, no cats and magnaflows on it now. Honestly they are pretty good I like the overall sound of them. Idle is decent, when I get on it....she barks pretty loud and that I like. Just looking for something a little louder.

I had flowmaster 40 series on a RAM Powerwagon.....and honestly thoes gave me a headache. The drone on the highway was almost unbearable. Not sure if that has the same affect on a C3.

Is there anything else out there for a decent price that would flow as good as a magnaflow but is as loud as a flowmaster without the drone?

I have flow masters and love the sound, but they aren't the best muffler out there for performance.

Here are my 50 Series Flowmasters. They will fit, but they're tight. After 7 years however, I haven't had any issues with them. I picked the 50 Series with the idea that more internal volume would give me a deeper sound and not be so restrictive as the smaller units. I don't know about the restriction part, but every one that's heard them, like them. You really need to hook your computer up to a TV set, because on small computer speakers there's a lot of base missing. Manifolds are factory, with 2 1/2" tubing.

You can definitely hear them with the windows rolled up. However, I don't drive the car with the windows rolled up, and I haven't had any issues that way.

Some fitment pics. These are big mufflers and they fill the cavity. But I've had no installation issues since installation.
