Default Gm zz383

Hello everyone, need some opinions on the gm zz383 for my 68. I did some searching here but couldn't get some solid info about this engine. Anyone have first hand experience with the 383 and if it's a wise choice? If anyone has any other engine choices, please feel free to chime in.This is a pretty pricey piece so anyone's input in helping with my decision would be appreciated.

Just for reference this is the engine on Chevys site

Thanks

Comes with a warranty, that's a plus.

Just put one in a 1989 .. Nice motor . You will need a vortec intake .. Also the warranty is real we got a motor that had a bad lifter and they exchanged it easily. Keep all documents in a safe place

Just put one in a 69 Chevelle. Nice strong motor. Don't forget the right converter for it.

Good luck.

that link has the old ZZ383 and it is discontinued now, unless you can find a NOS for sale somewhere.
Here's the current version:

I thought those heads had dual pattern for both style intakes?

I was looking at the GM catalog and it looks like they have two versions. The zz383 (425hp) and the zz383 deluxe(450hp) which uses the new head deisgn?
