Front Air Dam

Front Air Dam
Anyone "make" their own front air dam? My car gets on the track once or twice a year and the rest of the summer it is driven over the rough roads of Southern Ontario. I know a fibreglass one would be damaged in about two trips. I think I remember hearing about someone using that black flexible garden edging. How and where is the best place to mount it or are their better solutions?

I used the stuff that goes along the wall at floor level in office buildings. It's vinyl comes in 4 ft lengths or so at home improvements stores.

I used pop rivits and fender washers to attatch it to the existing air dam. Also sandwiched some sheet metal in there to give it rigidity so it doesn't just bend back at higher speeds.

Nice job on making your own. Might as well make up 4 or 5 and have them ready when you need them [up there].

air dam
I extended my factory dam using a piece of stiff conveyor belt. Stiff enough to do some good (I believe) and not so stiff that it won't 'give' if it has to w/o breaking the factory unit.

I found a place today that still sells the air dam extension that was an option for the 1979. This will fit C3 L48 air dams from 1973 to 1979.
