Default T56 Swap..GTO or F-body tranny?

for all the guys that have done t56 swaps...

with the c3...did you choose the ratios of the GTO (m12) or the f-body tranny ...and why please...??

just trying to make this decision..

I've got the LS1 going in with 27" tires and a 3.70 rear end.. i like that 5th ratio in the gto better so far...

also, what mods did you do and clutch?

Ratios:

F-body: 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 .74 .51
GTO: 2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 .84 .57

Have an LS2 GTO T56 behind my LS2, personally I like its ratios.

As far as mods you'll have to modify the shifter, console, and tunnel for it to fit.

It's on the mild side for now as I shake it down. Only mods are a tune and headers, so somewhere in the 425-450hp range. You'll learn pretty quick when the reduction in weight these setups do not need a ton of power to be fast.

While my 468 big block dynoed at 632hp it was much more violent, I prefer this setup as crazy as that may seem. I'm willing to bet the LS2 is faster as its easier to hook up.

I also have a T56 from a GTO. I like the gear ratio spread with a 3.70 rear it works out very well. You can also use the LS style TO bearing which makes the install a breeze. You have to use hydraulics for the MC but I made up my own with a Tilton MC. Works great. I have an LS3 in mine but started with a roller cammed 383 GEN1 SB. Sold that motor and am now finishing up the LS3 install.
