Swapping to 5 or 6 speed on a 68 Big Block?
I have been reading the threads on swapping to a 5 or 6 speed all over the forum but they all seem to be on SBC. I would love to swap out the 4 speed in my BB to a 5 or 6 speed since I have either 4:11 or 4:56 gears (haven't had time to look) 0-80 and I have to shut it down and cruising 60 is pushing it.
What is the easiest 5 or 6 speed to swap into a BBC.

I got the TKO600 from American Drivetrain exact fit and it was a drop in. Everything lined up just right. I would recommend doing a removable cross member while you are in there. I did mine after the fact and will make any future clutch etc change much easier. It is very tight against the transmission tunnel.
I got the .64 final ratio.

Then what is recommended for a BB with 4:11 gears a 5 speed or 6 speed. Also which is easier to swap a Richmond or Tremec TKO 600 or T-56? From what I am seeing it is the flywheel and tranny mount, others do cross members, what else is involved. Still have not found a detailed thread.

Been pondering it myself for my 68 427 car but not sure still. As I understand it, the TKO will fit w/o too much modification to the tunnel if you use a kit but the t-56 isnt quite as easy. As far as whats better for youre car, its tough to say one or the other, if you indeed have 4.11s or 4.56s, with the TKO Id go for the higher OD option(.62?). Theres quite a few threads, keep looking.
By the way, do you happen to know off hand what rpm youre running at at say 60mph with the current gearing?
