Default how to mend a fuel filter leak?!

I have a 69 vette 350 and I recently have gone through hell and back trying to stich out the fuel filter and lines. Ive broken bolts split lines ( everything was old ) basically the works. and now I have new everything and after a long night of trying to bend the carb to filter fuel lines ( all stainless hard lines ) I stopped all the leaks BUT hte one coming out of the bottom of the filter. Ive read a lot about the gf-432 being notorious for leaking or having bad knock offs but I got mine from ecklers so I expected it to work properly ! has anyone else had bad luck oing this? is there a way to seal it better?

loosen it, line it up, tighten it

i don't understand the question. where is the leak? if it's a qjet, the filter is in the inlet of the carb, and there are no other inline filters. the inlets are prone to developing stripped threads, and a helicoil is the only fix. if it's another inline filter, just replace it. if the fuel lines don't line-up exactly with the carb, loosen the carb, start the threads on the fittings then tighten the carb down(not TOO tight) then snug the other fittings.

Some Q-Jets do not have a large enough fuel inlet opening to accept the corrugated paper filters. The early Q-Jets used the sintered bronze filter, instead; and it is a bit shorter and smaller diameter than those corrugated paper filters with the metal ends.

It could be that you are not able to get that fitting completely seated.

all stainless hard lines
That's the main issue with stainless. Go back to original steel if you can.

if it's a qjet, the filter is in the inlet of the carb, and there are no other inline filters.
68 and 69 Q-Jet engines had an inline filter (P/N GF-432) with a fuel return port. Here's a picture...

Preferably on a bench and not the car, put oil on the fittings for the filter and tighten and loosen the fittings numerous times, trying tighter each time. Same as with head bolts, different lubrication allows for different torque values.

I have this exact problem... at 125K it just started leaking fuel out of bottom of the fuel filter thats in the fuel lines in engine bay.
Found this thread from searching...will search for more threads. Sounds like i need to just replace mine...?

I gave up on the stainless lines on my 69 big block. They were leaking at the pump and top and bottom at the filter and they were so tight I was afraid I was going to strip out the fittings. I ordered a set of regular lines and will never go stainless again. It just isn't worth the hassle.

ready to pull my hair out.... trying to install the new filter GF-432

have done it 5 times now and still leaks a tiny small bit at idle, god knows how much it will leak with some throttle added....SMH ?

Anyone have tips on how to get the metal fuel line to line-up snug with a good seal on the filter as you are tightening the nut ?

If this is trail and error i think i may give up and have mech do it....?
thnx

If using stainless steel lines you are going to have a problem....You might get "lucky" ...but more than likely you will have an issue of leaks.

I tighten...loosen...then tighten some more...then loosen...then tighten it up.

And yes...I know...I also have to do it numerous times to get the taper of the flare to deal to the fitting as designed.

You have to realize that the set in the filter is more than likely steel instead of a soft metal ...like brass.
