Default 1982 Corvette U-joints Question

It looks like there's a mix up on the 1982 drive shaft U-joints in the part numbers for 1982 Corvette.
I ordered Moog and got part # 270 but they are too long at 3.622" The OD of the cap is right at 1.062
The 1982 U-joint is smaller at 6.22".
The Eckler's catalogue only lists the driveshaft U-joint to 1981, nothing for 1982.

Is there a part number for the 1982 U-joints?

Thx again, John

I had the same issue when replacing mine on my 81... Bought the ones for the auto trans, brought em home , they didn't fit, brought mine to the part house , and turns out the manual trans version is what I have in my 81 auto... Not sure why this is , but that's what it is... Replaced all 6 and life is good...

The overall width is 3.218", that is the correct u-joint.

Your car should use Spicer 1350's for the 1/2 shafts. Well that is if it still has the original 1/2 shafts. An easy way to tell is to pull a U-joint strap, (I'd guess You probably have one loose by the sounds of it) if its a 5/16" bolt then it uses a 1350 U-joint, if its a 1/4" then it uses a 1330. For the most part people use Spicer part Numbers as they are considered the Industry Standard for performance applications. If You want to use another brand just convert the number.

Thx, that's the information we're looking for. And well explained too.

check the "sticky", for our 82's the info you are requesting is listed in the PART #'s section of the "sticky" for the u-joints in question, just replaced mine last summer, all #'s and sizes are listed...Tom

Spicer's site lists the 1310 part number as 5-1310X and the 1350 part number as 5-1350X.

82 Vettes use 1350's on the half shafts and 1310's on the drive shaft. When I replaced all of mine I used the u-joints that the store listed for the 82. They did not fit. Someone has incorrectly listed the same auto trans u joints used on the 80 and 81 for the 82 Vettes. This is incorrect, the 82 uses the same u-joints as the MANUAL trans Vettes from 80-81. So, if you go to AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc. ask for the U-joints for a manual 80 or 81 Vette, they will fit perfectly.
