Default Question and suggestions for ignition coil and module

I am trying to do minor horsepower improvements without spending lots of money. I am trying to do most of the work myself; I am not a mechanic. I have recently put an ignition advance kit in my HEI distributor. The car runs faster! I am thinking about putting a MSD coil and module in it. Will this increase horsepower and smoother idle or am I wasting time and money or is there a better idea? Will I have to redo the timing if I install either of the two parts. What do you think?

I have the original 350 V-8 (L-48), Dewitts aluminum radiator, headers with dual exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers. The Qjet was recently rebuilt.

THANKS EVERYONE!

With stock motor your stock module and coil will work just as well as an MSD coil and module.

A hotter spark will not give you more horsepower.

In my experience the advantage w/ the MSD stuff is if you buy the entire distributor due to its better/more consistent advance curve.
