What bodies will fit on a 1980 frame?
I am in the middle of my body off resto-mod project. I have the chassis built and set the original 1980 body back on to fit the steering column, etc. I had to move the LS2/T56 forward 3/4" to clear the tunnel (for the most part) and am about to start reworking the tunnel and transmission X-member.
I got to thinking... This is where I got into trouble
I am really wondering if I wouldn't be happier with a convertible. Or a vertical rear window from the earlier C3s. Before I buy another C3 body I wonder what years will fit the body mounts for the 1980? I am comfortable with moving the mounts, if necessary. But I don't want any other surprises so I thought it best to ask what other issues I might encounter if I try to fit another body on this frame?

the frame is the same basic design from 1963. with some alteration you could run a 63 to 82 body. back about 1980 a tree fell on my 78 pace car after a lot of work it appeared to be a 80 convertible with a big block 4 speed , so you can let your imagination run wild.

with all of todays fiber glass parts you could just add the parts you want. Keep your rear hatch but add the 65 or 63 section like split window. if you want a bumper conversion its out there too. I plan on adding 69 gills reversed to my 76 with 73 front bumper and maybe chrome bumper conversion or keep my 82 bumper just add c5 corvette script. They also have a kit to turn your car convertible but I personally like ttops over roasdster but an 80's style convertible would be cool. With fiberglass sky's the limit.

Bumper mounts will differ between years for sure. I also think there are some differences between the rear compartments as far as shape under the car.
