Default Which performance hood is the best replacement

For my car. I want a new hood, but sure if the L-88 is the best. Have any of you guys installed the scoop that you can attatch to the stock hood? If so what do they require for installation?

If you're sure the L-88 hood is the best, you should get an L-88 hood. The separate hood scoops that you can graft onto your stock hood are difficult to do properly, and just don't look right, as you still have a section of the stock scoop or hood bulge that is not covered by the L-88 scoop.

Thanks Scott. Now I have to find a hood that will not cost me a FORTUNE. Any ideas?

What are you calling a "performance" hood? What are you wanting the new hood to do for you?

If this is for your 74, I think the factory-style L-88 hood doesn't look quite right compared to a chrome bumper car with the short hood. That's just my opinion. However, if someone had me a super deal in one I wold probably run it.

That being said, unless you are actually adding a tall intake/carb/air cleaner setup, what is the purpose? Just for looks?

LOL! Sorry, buddy, but I can't help you there! If you find a place that sells cheap L88 hoods, let us all know about it, OK?
