Default Gas leaking, help?

I have gas leaking from this hose where it connect to the canister here and basically drips along the tubes and frame. What does that part the hose is connected to do? I assume I will be swapping out the old hose above for the fix, does anyone know what caused this?

attached a pic with red arrow to the problem hose above the "thing' its connected to, and orange leak arrows illustrating my issue here..

That silver canister you are referring to is a fuel filter. The hose can be bad, the filter could be too small for the hose. (they come with different size inlet and outlet tubes). The clamps may be loose. At least try tightening the worm gear clamps on the hose before it starts a fire.

That is so messed-up, I can't even wrap my head around it!

We need to see more pics, from different angles, to figure out what's going on here. Show the fuel pump, too, please. That is not right at all, we need to help you get this squared away, pronto!

All fixed. There was a slice in the fuel line above the filter where the clamp had cut into the line, cut the line shorter and reconnected it, no leaks. Thanks guys!

It may not leak anymore, (for now...) but it is by no means fixed. I don't know what's going on with that fuel line, but it ain't right. That could very well be a burned-up 'vette waiting to happen.

Agreed. Having the fuel filter (aftermarket Bubba fix) outside of the frame rail is a fire just waiting to happen. You REALLY need to fix it.

where is it supposed to go? I bought a new hose and clamps and redid that line this morning in the same place.

It should go from a hard line on top of the passenger's side frame rail, to the fuel pump on the engine. A relatively short, s-shaped hose. The fuel filter should go in between the fuel pump and the carb. As close to the carb as you can get it is preferable. The Quadrajet carb actually has the fuel filter built in to the carb itself.

I have no idea what sort of modifications have been made to your car. Need to see some picks of the fuel pump and surrounding area from different angles to figure out what sort of mess is going on there. Sorry, but I don't live close enough to drive over and take a look for myself.

I AGREE...that fuel filter needs to be removed and the fuel supply system corrected. This makes me scared just looking at it. God help you if you get in an accident on that side of the car.
