LED bulbs for dash lights?
Has anyone swapped out old style bulbs for LEDs in the dash sockets?
These seem to last a real long time, and it is a real pain to get to the bulbs in the left dash to change the old kind. I have things apart to do a color swap and work on wiring and stuff, so I thought to change all the bulbs before I put things back together, even if they are just new old style ones. Opinions?

LED bulbs are dimmable....using a 12 vdc pwm device [pulse-width modulator]. There is also a current limiting resistor that needs to be in the circuit with the LED 'string' for the dimmer to work properly. Read up on it before you make the plunge.
Also, if you change bulbs in a particular fuse-string, you should make sure that you swap out all bulbs in that string. You can have incandescents in a common string, but only if done correctly.
It has occurred to me that younger folks tend to want very bright dash lights. Us old folks want them like they came from the factory....bright enough. Make sure that the ground wire connection for the dash lights is in good order BEFORE you go throwing money at a problem that may be easily repairable. If the ground line is not in good order, the LED lights won't work well, either.

the description of the bulbs I used is below, and I have good luck with them. Be sure to test each on to make sure the polarity is correct, if the bulb does no turn on rotate it 180 degrees and try again. I used these in my blinker indicators as well and they work fine with a heavy duty flasher. The seatbelt indicator bulb is different and it is still the OEM style bulb in my 69. Hope this helps.

It would be best to confirm the count with the owners manual. Let me know if you need more information.

I am traveling and do not have my owners manual. All the bulbs are listed if you happen to have yours. Best I remember is that 20 of the Zitrades 1895 equivilent BA9S 5 SMD 5050 LED Car Wedge Light Bulbs will take care of the all bulbs for the speedo and tach including high beam and turn indicators as well as the center cluster except for the seatbelt indicator which is a different style bulb on my 69.

I got a 12v PWM box (as mentioned above) for about five bucks off eBay and it works well.
