I can only pass on what's in "Big Block Chevy Engines" by Tom Wilson. He states that pushrods, pistons(4 rings), manifolds (I assume intake) and distributors are different. All are 4 bolt mains. They have thicker than regular cylinder walls. Biggest problem I see is the extra width and height of the exhaust manifolds. Personally, unless this proposed engine is 100% ready to go, I'd get a regular deck height model.

A standard BB Chevy barely fits. The tall deck would definitely need a raised hood, small dia brake booster and an AC car might be a deal breaker or will need to be removed.
I know I wouldn't try it unless it was a track only car.

Unless you're after a particular rod length/stroke/compression heght combo that you just can't achieve in a 9.8" block, there's no reason to go there IMCO.

That said, I've got a .060" over 10.2" block (bare) left over from my drag racing days that's machined and ready to go for anyone that really needs one.

There is a guy, "Lowkeytow" or something similar, that put a 572 in a chrome-bumper C3. I think he had to do a little fiberglass work on the firewall where it sticks out around the master cylinder.

I've got a standard deck height 540 and that's more than plenty for me. If you want to go crazy, 800-900 HP is possible.

Thanks for all the reply's. I was thinking 632 tall deck, but after doing a ton of research I found a combination doing a 555 low deck that will run on pump gas and develop close to 800 h.p. That should be enough for this small tire car. I could always add a side sling Pro Charger if more power is needed. Pics of this build to come soon....

800 HP? Are we talking hypersonic, or just supersonic here?

Just a 9 second pump gas C3 to go out on cruise nights and an occasional trip to the drag strip.

My last combination was running 10:60's on motor-too slow for me.

Seems that the raised exhaust port heads would pose the same problems as a stock exhaust port and raised deck. It can certainly be worked around. some under car headers dont seem to be a problem like side exhaust, maybe was hooker super comps in 2.00 primary....
Side note, Stahl who is out of business now made headers for raised port/deck combinations. Those jigs have been sold and they will be made again by Advance Composite Products.

No worries, my Hooker Super Comps worked just fine with the raised exhaust ports on my current Big Block with Dart Heads we just pulled out of the car. I did have to slightly dent one tube to get the deep socket on the #1 plug.

Thanks
