Default Dropping the Oil Pan on a 1973 SB

I've read a few threads concerning dropping the oil pan on the C3. Most have said to remove the idler arm support from the frame on the passenger side and that would provide clearance. My car is on it's wheels on a lift and the linkage doesn't appear to drop enough to allow me to remove the pan. Do I need to remove more of the steering linkage? Thanks!

I have done mine by unbolting the idler arm and the steering would drop enough to allow the pan to be removed, although I did it on axle stands rather than on a wheel lifter. So it can be done but you may have to raise the front so the wheels are hanging.

I was afraid that may be the case. Won't be easy getting the tires off the ground on the lift system I have. Thanks!

i never have had to do that. sometimes the counterweight on the crank gets in the way then i just turn the engine a little with a wrench and it slips out.
