Welcome to CA, sorry you don't pass smog
I live in California and need an exhaust system that will pass smog. Currently I have long tube headers on my 77 which is a no-no here. I'd like to find short tube AIR Headers and replace the entire system, with a catalytic converter (currently missing) all the way to the tail pipe. Any and all advice welcomed. Thanks

McJacks shorty headers with smog fittings. You probably have to have a 2-1 exhaust too... buy the parts from a vendor, assemble it with a CC and then have a uffler shop weld it up

Make sure your cat is a "ca approved"one they will check for it
Magnaflow is reasonable. Way better than the original type and dont really cost any measureable power.

Any component in the smog system that's non-OEM must be CARB approved AND the component's CARB sticker must also be applied under the hood where it can be easily seen. And your smog system must, at a minimum, conform to the OEM's design and specifications. At least that's what I've been told.
Or sell your '77 and get a '75 or older (no smog inspections required). (j/k...)

Hedman 68301 is what I have on mine, they have AIR tubes. There's also the 66301 with AIR tubes that are legal.
If you have a federal car (no AIR) you can also run the 66307s (no tubes).
I'm sure there's a couple more.
I've been through smog for over a decade with the 68301s, they're legal and I never get hassled for them.

ddawson is right
When on Ecklers site search for
Corvette Emission Control Decal, L48, Federal, 1978
The smog man looks at the sticker because the VIN does not tell him if it was federal or Cali.

Anyone know if I have to have a stock air cleaner to pass CA smog? Any experience? Also, want to thank everyone for the great info, hopefully I can get this 77 back on the road soon.
