Anybody ever buy an HEI distributor off Ebay from one of their many vendors? Looking at one with a lifetime warranty...yeah I know...but thinking about one.

Thanks.

Most of the cheap hei distributors on flea bay are chinese knock offs. Mallory unilte or msd units made in usa are spendy but worth it. Lower priced msd and accel units are hop sing made. Maybe have a factory hei rebuilt and recurved by Lars or other high performance builder.

Distributors these days are a crap shoot no matter who "makes" it.
I called MSD to get some replacement parts for an EFI Vortec distributor and they told me no parts are available because the distributors were made "off shore" so my option was to toss it and buy a new one.

Bottom line, ask where the distributor is MADE. If it's "off shore", there is no reason to pay top dollar just for a brand name.

I have 2 of them. One purchased off of Ebay and one from a parts vendor. The one in my car (tach drive) has worked perfectly for over a year without issue. Will they last the 40+ years the factory units have? I doubt it, but, for $80 they do work! The advance curve isn't bad out of the box either.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to try one out and see. For the price I am not out an arm and a leg. If it fails I will just get the original re-worked.

I appreciate it.
