Default 73 shoulder belt

I bought new lap and shoulder belts for my 73 Vette. The buckle on the shoulder belt is too big to fit through the opening in the seat back. No matter how I angle it, it will not fit. Any suggestions?

Did you remove the plastic trim first?

Yea, I had to remove that piece of plastic too. Another trick I used was to get a piece of tie line or something like a shoe string, loop it thru the opening of the buckle and get that thru the seat back first. Then use that as a little extra leverage to gently pull it thru. It is tight, but it will fit.

Dip it in a pot of very hot water for a few minutes. It comes off while it is hot. Then pull the seat belt thru the seat.

Use a hair dryer on the boot to soften it up. When it is soft enough, remove it from the buckel. Turn the buckel upside down and it will slide through the seat

On mine I have to turn the buckle one half turn or upside down to get it through. Once through you can twist the belt back. Works every time.

Right on.... Turn the buckle upside down, push it thru, then pull from the front side. That is how I've done it for years!!
