I really like the new rims. I think they look old school. I am not a purist on C3's! I want a Crome bumper with five spoke and modern suspension and fuel injected big LS and 6 speed manual.

I've always thought that the C3's look better with 15"s on them. I say old school.

I looked for a long time before I decided on the 17 SLP's-I just did not care for the more traditional 17/18 inch rims for our cars and held out forever with the OEM C3 slotted rims. The crap 15 inch tires available for the C3 forced the issue. The SLP's are very similar to the C4 ZR1 rims.

Ok here is the same car with what I thought was a mistake I made a couple of weeks ago. I bought this set on craigslist they were on 64 Buick grand sport show car the guy wanted to sell them. They looked good on his full size Buick. They are Halibrand 16X8 wheels 4.5 backspace they would not clear calipers without a 3/8 in spacer. Tires were nitto 205/55r16 front and 245/50r16 rear. Put them on and they just looked way to small to me. No longer have these.

The wheel wells of your car were made for bigger dia. tires in my opinion it will always look goofy with to small dia. tires. You need something at least in the 27 dia. range to make it look right from a side view of the car no matter what rim you want.

I recently had to put new tires on my 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition. Since the car came with 15s, there really were/are few choices on tires to stay with the OEM rims. Goodyear discontinued tires to fit this car, so I ended up with my second choice, Goodrich TA radials.

Frankly, IMHO, I can't imagine putting other than OEM aluminum wheels on this car. And I tend to feel that way about Corvettes in general. I don't even like seeing 91-96 rims on earlier C4s. It just looks wrong to me. I'm one of those keep it stock purists I guess.

You Corvette is going to look good almost no matter what wheels are on it, but when other than the factory base or aluminum wheels are on it, it isn't going to look right to me.

Personally I'd put the factory aluminum rims back on with TAs, but that's just me.

Default old or new

I have owned my 75 for 20 years and always liked the old school look. After many upgrades over the last three years started shopping for new tires . At this point finding it harder to find 15 tires thought maybe time to change . Looked at options and decided to go with 17 inch and love the new look . Car seems to get way more thumbs up while driving then ever before .

That's what I'm talking about money. When I upgrade, it will be to drag lites except with a 4 inch front for a skinny front drag tire.

I prefer if possible, but whatever floats YOUR boat is what you should go for imo.

I like the big & little look too. I had my corvette aluminum rim widened 1'' on the inside to 9" width to run a 275 tire without the side wall bulge. A 1/2" adapter/spacer centers the wheel at 4-1/2" b.s. I have a 215/70 on the front. I will also get a set of 18" late model vette wheels for autocross etc. different shoes for different needs!

That's exactly what I'm looking for Tek. What's the tire/wheel size and off set?

Fronts are 15"x4" bs 1.75"-tire size I have to check I'm not able to get to my car just now.
Rears are 15"x10" bs 5.5"-tires are MT Drag Radials (they are the Pro's that's why you dont see much tread). They are 275 60 15's.

The rear wheels/tires of same size may stick out a little on your car and I don't know if a 5.5"bs with a 10" rim will fit yours either so just check clearance before you buy. My car has a solid axle and the frame is clearanced so they tuck in well.

The 15x10s will stick out for sure. I ordered them first, and sent them back and ordered 15x9s with a 5 1/2 bs. Using a VB&P 1 1/4 inch wheel adaptor will get you where you want. Mine do stick out about 1/2 inch past the fender, but it is only the bulge of the 295 55 15 MT drag radial. If you go with 275s, it would be perfect.
Live and learn...........
