Default Carb spacer problems

I'm running a 2701 Edelbrock dual plane intake, 1405 Edel carb.
I decided to put an Edel heat spacer on to cut down on carb heat. The spacer has a center portion that runs full length between the 2 sides of the manifold. The car refuses to idle with this spacer in place. It acts like it's getting no fuel. Is the center divider screwing things up maybe? The original gasket is wide open with no center divider. I don't see any holes in the base that are being covered completely. I've had the carb off this thing many times so
I'm pretty sure everything is back as it should be. No smog at all. 1975 350.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Vacuum leak caused by spacer? Other than the center divider, does the spacer look exactly like the original gasket?

Spacer looks like original gasket. Putting new gaskets on today. I agree that it must be a vacuum leak.
Thanks for the help guys!

how about providing the part number of the spacer so we can all see what you are working with?
