Default 72 Wiper Override ****

In my continuing uphill battle to undo all the jerry rigging the previous owner did to my 72, I am trying to put everything under the dash in the correct place. All the manual override valves, etc, were just zip tied under the dash. I have bought the plate to mount all this stuff. Is this in the picture the shaft for the windshield wiper override ****? The nut has been take off of it, as it was attached to a bracket with the light for underneath the dash. If this is the part for the **** to go on, is there any other pieces missing? In other pics of this assembly I have seen wires going into the switch with the ****. Thanks

NO! that is your odometer trip meter reset cable from the speedometer. There is a plastic **** that goes on the splined portion, if you pull on the shaft and rotate it you will see the small odometer roll over to reset. The wiper override is an electrical **** that mounts on a bracket with the 2 vacuum override switches.

Solid, thanks for the info. In looking under my dash I cannot locate the pieces of the wiper override ****, cables, etc. I didnt think the above was it, but was not sure.

Hi fb,
The wiper over-ride is quite a large square switch. The black plastic **** on it is quite large too… maybe an inch in diameter.
A connecter with 2 heavy red wires runs to two prongs on the back of the switch.
Regards,
Alan

The switch body. (On the right)

The over-ride switch **** between the vacuum overrides.

Here's the odometer reset and it's bracket.

Hi fr,
As shown in the picture it is mounted in a small metal bracket that's screwed to the dash pad below the speedometer.
It's to the left of the 2 vacuum overrides and the wiper override .
On many cars this small bracket also mounts the courtesy light for the left-side foot well.
Regards,
Alan
