I am actually planning on moving to Arizona myself in about 4 years. I will have my 30 years in at this job, and I am ready for a change. Cannot stand the weather here on the east coast anymore. I am looking forward to dry desert type weather. I loved it when I was in the Army and cant wait to be in it again. I cant wait to be able to drive my vette knowing its not going to rain every other day or so.

Old picture of back when I had a 4.11 rear and 700R4 tranny. I'd been driving up off the end of my speedometer @5000 rpm. When I slowed down I was comfortable enough to take a picture. You can do the math 27 inch tall rear tires and .70 OD

This motor was good for off the end of the stock tach 7500 rpm rev limiter

My Vette had AC when I lived in Las Vegas and the stock unit would freeze me if left on max on a 114 degree day. Once I started racing I took all that stuff off and MotorHead is correct about leaving it parked in the summer when the sun is out. The hottest I drove in was like 123 or 124 and it just sucked.

I took a summer western trip when it was 108 day time and my interior is really hot with the big motor, headers, and tranny. Some of the summer time SCCA events really suck because I did not have a cool suite or cold air helmet

gkull, curious what you're running for a fuel system (pump, lines, etc...)?

Started watching mine and noticed the fuel pressure falls off under hard acceleration in the higher rpm's so I've opted for a new fuel supply system.

Started her up yesterday, wife came running out to ask if we were going for a ride. It was sunny and 60 couldn't say no.

Now THAT is cool. My wife is great in that she doesn't object to the time/money that I decide to spend on my C3, but she hasn't shown any interest in going for a ride at all. Just not her thing.

I think that once she does ride in it, in the rare opportunity that someone else is around to keep an eye on the kids while we go out, she's going to be a little shocked at how it goes

Original 79 supply and return lines with a stock type AC/Delco return line pump. Then I have AN and steel braided line to the 830 cfm Demon fuel log.

Is your fuel pressure on the log dropping? If it is, either your pump or even your cam mechanical pump lobe is gone. You can't use a stock or even light weight pump rod on modern mush metal cams from Com cams. I'm using a polymer or composite mech fuel pump rod

The vac advance dial is set to 10 degrees at 14 inches of vacuum. I have the Crane digital Multi spark HS6R or some number like that and my Platinum plugs are always light tan showing pretty lean.

I've been using Maxjets for many years. Holley jet sizes are poor in comparison

My recently sold C6 Z06 gave me 27.8MPG@69MPH speed average between SF Bay Area and Vegas when I drove down to SEMA various times....that car would eat up interstate freeway! My wife's 70 LT-1 with a factory Holley and TKO 600 will approach 20MPG at a steady highway cruise.....around town.....who cares?

Running a Holley black pump near the tank with factory lines,

Pressure drops at the log

Electric pumps last longer if they have a small return. Try and see if you can replace the pump vain. If you use the larger diameter alky needle and seats you can maintain the fuel bowl levels even down at 4-5 psi. under the highest demand wot

I borrowed another 140 gph pump from a buddy and tried it, same thing pressure drops under high demand.

I moved from a Holley regulator (was having a lot of issues with it) to an Aeromotive regulator but seen no improvement.

I've got all the new parts for the fuel system now just trying to figure out what to run for lines (Mallory 5250 pump, Mallory return regulator, tank sump, high flow filter/water separator). Planning to pull the engine and have the stroke increased to bring it to a 540 in the near future so I want to make sure I have the fuel system up to the task.

Most are running the factory lines and not really anything special for the pump and getting away with it and I'm starting to see issues with my setup.

Was curious what you had since you are also running a higher HP engine and known to stretch it out.

Thanks Neal

My buddy has a roller 496 and during rides I've never seen his gauge move when we are out goofing off. He has the typical 3/8th stainless lin from electric pump to the regulator and then the big fuel log on the side of his 1050 the pressure sender is on the rear top of the fuel log and he has a restrictor to the return line plumbed into the bottom of the tank at the pump inlet. he has his set at 6 psi
