Default Good daily drive tire combo

I'm putting the factory alloys back on for the street. Thinking of getting BFG TA's in 225/60 fronts and 265/60 rears, pretty conservative really I guess. Any better suggestions for the 15 x 8's ?

The BFGs are great looking tires but they really jacked the price in the last few years. Cooper cobras seem to be the next choice for a similar look. They're $30 cheap a wheel and have a higher speed rating.

I don't think they make a 265/60/15 anymore. I run a BFG 255/60-245/60 combo

255 60 15 on all 4 corners works well.

255-60/15 is the limit with stock alum wheel. Even they rub a tiny bit on the sway bar at full lock.
I think he may have mistyped.

Nope on the later cars this tire size was an option. On the early C3 cars they did rub, I ran them on a 69 for many miles with little issues. I have run them on a 79 full lock with no rubbing issues. If the car has been hit there may be some issue but this size tire should fit with no problem on later C3 cars.

I have 255/60/15's all around on my '71.

The back of the front, right tire rubs a little on the wheel well when making a hard right turn.

Anything I can do about it?

Thanks

Correct!

The 255/60/15 was the optional tire in the later C3 years and they will not rub with the OEM aluminum rims. My 78 does not have the factory trimming inside the wheel well for the larger tires and I had no rubbing issues. My OEM rims are in my garage with the BFG TA's on the them but if I was using those rims today, I would go with Cooper tires over BFG TA's.

If you are going to use the car as a daily driver and you can find a set of 17/18 rims that you can live with, you would be shocked at the difference modern 17/18 ultra High Performance tires over the crap 15 inch tires available today for our cars. I have 255/45/17 ZR ultra high performance Summer only tires on my 78 and the ride, steering, and handling is FAR SUPERIOR to the 255/60/15 BFG's. Just a thought….

I'm getting told a lot to consider 17's or 18's. I guess I'm sticking with 15" at the moment for the look. What 17 or 18 wheels will bolt straight on without any modification (in case I can't live with look?)

These are 17 inch SLP Hyperblack rims. Not sure if they are available anymore but they were made specifically for C3's and fit with Zero modifications….
