73 rear end?
I currently have a 308. I want more punch out of the hole. The care is a 73 with a 383 making about 450 tq and 410 hp. any suggestions? I was thinking 355 or 373.

Gear is a good thing. 3.73 is fun but rough at extended highway speeds without overdrive. 3.55 will be a big improvement over a 3.08. If you just play around in town and don't make long interstate trips, go 3.73 by all means!

I put in a 3.55 gear and thought it was a good improvement over the 3.08 but the rpm's did get a little high for expressways so I put in an OD trans. 3.73 would be real high rpm's

I found a diff. # gear list...decide if you will be driving in-town more with short road-trips.......(for more punch>>>>3.55/3.70/3.90/4.11)
OR.........driving mostly road-trips/long daily commutes.....(for lower-less brutal highway r.p.m.>>>>>2.73/3.08/3.36).
(A rookie guess would be to keep the engine under 2,500 RPM on long road trips/long commutes ).
