I've done a search for prior threads and can't find one that's related. Does the dipstick tube on my 427 require any kind of seal where it slips into the oil pan? Thanks in advance for any responses.

My 69 BB does not have any kind of seal. Just the rib on the tube that seats into the socket on the oil pan.

Same here--I checked with a friend who has had a few BB's and he said it was just the tube itself.

I used some Permatex Ultra Black just to stop any weeping

My 68 427 had the wrong tube and dipstick when I bought it. Bought the correct one from Doc Rebuild, came with a small o-ring on the tube.

69 didn't have any type of seal. I used the above method just around the top portion of the tube for a good seal. I imagine a small O-ring over the tube would do the same thing but it came from the factory with no seal.
