How do I clean the exterior of my Q-Jet carb? Or should I paint it?
My Q-Jet carb is dull gray! Not very nice looking on my freshly painted block and intake manifold. :( How can I brighten up the carb, any chemicals, or do I paint it? Lacquer, enamel, epoxy paint???????? What do you use?
Thanks! Greg

No!!!! Please don't paint it! If you ever rebuild it, the paint dissolves in the carb cleaner goop. I had a painted marine carb that I rebuilt and it was a mess to clean everything off ALL the parts!

NO PAINT! some carb shops can restore the factory finish to a carb, but that is done before they rebuild them. the local guy who rebuilt my old carb, got it very clean. it sat in a tank of solvent to remove all the gunk & varnish, but no factory finish.

I used some carb cleaner and a tooth brush. Cleaned up pretty good and then sprayed a high temp clear on it
