Default Emergency brake question

Preparing to remove spindles for rebuild, does the adjuster click up to contract the shoes - same for passenger & driver sides ? Things look somewhat rusty through the hole and I see a spring floating around inside. Also do the brake shoes usually conflict with the rotor sliding off or not ? The wheel has only slight drag with pads removed. 73 with 70K miles, never been touched, rivets in place.

It's a "pain"....but E-brake shoes and hardware need to be cleaned, replaced, adjusted before something nasty happens on the open road....you'll be glad that you did (Now I need to order a new rear cable since the e-brake rebuild works well)

Ditto on the pain, appears that everything south of the door is full of it.
