Default Steering issues!

Ive been restoring my 76 vette for the past 6 months and just got it onto the road for the first test drive a few days ago. The car will not track straight whatsoever and is pulling pretty hard to the left. I didnt mess with any of the steering or suspension components, I did however replace the brake hoses, calipers, pads, rotors, and the grease seals inside the hub. Has anyone had a similar problem? Ive heard it may be something to do with suspension or power steering but I cant figure it out. Really appreciate any info you have!

Take it to an alignment shop and see if that is causing this.

Have you checked if the left wheel is hard to spin compared to the right, indicating a stuck caliper or bearing problem? You are sure this problem did not exist before the brake and bearing work and you have checked tire pressure?

The problem did exist before but it seems to have gotten a littke worse. The bearings are good but it could definitely be a caliper causing the problem. I thought it might be a little tight being that everything is new and hasnt had a chance to wear down at all. Ill have to check it out!

Default Do you have a service manual?

Do you have power steering?
If yes then make sure the PSCV is balanced.

power steering control valve is what the steering box pitman arm is connected to. You place jack stands under the car start it up with the steering centered and see if the wheel moves left or right by itself.

Here is a link to an excellent video on replacing and balancing a Corvette Steering Control Valve.

Here is a link to a paper that I authored that added a few thoughts to the video. I think because the paper is in pdf format, the imbedded link doesn't work.

Jim, great article and C&S video is well done. I installed power steering kit 20 years ago in my 1966 Vette and changed changed holes in tie road. I now replaced valve, control rod and hoses with new. Valve is balanced. However, when off and on the ground it whips left at 1/8 turn from full left. Hose connection connections per gm assembly manual. What could it be, this is the second new valve. I have not changed the original pitman arm, could that be? Thanks. I hope I can find your response.
