1981 C3 Heater Hose Routing/Length and Water Shutoff Valve
I am in the process of having my engine rebuilt, cleaning and repainting the engine bay on a 1981 C3. I had a mechanic install new hoses and a valve a few months back and found he installed the water shuttoff valve like bubba via a hose clamp to air cond. pipe. So while the engine is out and I am cleaning things up I am replacing parts.
One hose to water pump, one to water shutoff and one from water shutoff to intake. The bracket and holes on the water shutoff valve line up with existing holes on the passenger front fender close to the bottom on an angle. Is this correct?
Does anyone have pictures and a diagram showing how the heater hoses are routed and the length of the three hoses as well as where the valve in mounted? I have the 1981 Shop Manual with a diagram, but it is hard to tell exactly where to install.
The original hoses from reading online were preformed to connect to the heater core. Most local stores Auto Zone, Advanced Auto etc. carry Dayco or Carquest made by Dayco which are priced reasonably, but they list three preformed hoses of varying lengths?
48 inches by 5/8 - Is this from shutoff valve to intake?
24 inches by 5/8 - Is this from core to shutoff valve?
60 inches by 3/4 - This appears to be the length from core to water pump?
Any help would be appreciated.

FWIW: the assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the correct hose routing and the mounting of the shut off valve. You can buy hose in bulk length. Why not wait until the engine is in place and install your hoses at that time?

I believe 5/8 is from heater core to water control valve and from water control valve to intake. 3/4 is from heater core to a tube mounted on engine then a short piece from tube to water pump. the tube if its factory will have a bracket with eyelet for bolt.

I myself would go with the higher quality Goodyear/Continental or Gates hose. If it's a car you are intending to appear original stock, you can buy hose with the GM with the stenciled line. (or do it yourself with a pinstriping tool). ...But I'm guessing you know that.
