Default Aluminum head mounting bolts?

For Aluminum Heads, I believe the same head bolts are used (68 L89). Are washers used under the head bolt or the bolt tightend to the head only?

Thanks!

With Aluminum always use a washer. Otherwise the head bolt will gouge the head.

Some heads are thicker than the Ironones and require longer bolts....check your thread length.

Some BBC aftermarket aluminum heads the ones with raised exhaust ports use some longer bolts or studs.

washers and torque-loosen 3 times-then retorque, use ARP sealent/lube on all bolts and washers too,and thread clean[not retap] all bolt holes, then blow out with air
