Default Do I remove the fuel pump push rod?

Hello

I have convertet my 72 LS5 to EFI and are removing the original fuelpump for an in tank pump. Is there any problems with removing the push rod? It leaves a hole all the way to the cam....will oil run wrong ways with no push rod installed?

/Ole

Just get a gasket and cover for the old mechanical fuel pump and take the rod out. There won't be any problems as long as you use a gasket sealer, too.

Removing the pushrod will not cause any problems with engine oiling. Lots of places carry a fuel pump block-off plate that can be installed in place of the current plate.

True Fact: it will probably come out on its own when you remove the fuel pump.

It won't come out when you remove the pump, but it will when you remove the plate behind the pump to install a block-off plate.
