Install a GM 350 HO engine in my '80 corvette. The engine has vortec heads on them and I am told that a special exhaust manifold is required due to the exhaust port shape.

Any recommendations???

Vortec heads do not require a different exhaust manifold. I have headers for the standard head on mine, with Vortec heads.

They dont need special headers, but you need to look at how much of the exhaust port is covered using other shaped pipes.

The vortec heads are D-Shaped.

I am using Sanderson Headers where the flange / header starts with a D-shape and then goes to a round pipe.

If you are using smaller dia pipes, then it is possible that some of the exhaust port on the heads will be cut off. How much it effects flow depends.

Larger dia pipes may completely cover the exhaust port and therefor have no effect.
