Default Oil pan

Ok, so I am trying to change oil pan on my 80 due to cross threaded drain hole. Stock pan for an 80 won't fit due to previous owner adding a bigger oil pump and pickup. Only identification on pan that does fit is the letter K on the pan. Surprisingly Summit Racing was of no help even when I took old pan in with me. How can I find an oil pan to fit this thing.

Please helllllppppp!

Thanks

Since you have the pan off, why not just run a tap through the threads? Or drill and tap it for a new drain plug.

I just did run a tap through the hole. Bolt goes in with no problem although threads are a bit rough. If I put some oil in the loose pan and watch for any drips, is this a decent test????

Thanks

Take a picture and post it. Can't be that many different styles.

It is. But water is not as thick and cheaper.

If the bolt goes in smoothly and tightens...whats to worry? I would put a new gasket (nylon or soft aluminum) on a NEW plug and re-install the pan. Don't overtighten.

They also sell oversize drain plugs!

I installed a Milodon 30701 pan with matching pickup for under $150 (Summit). Added a new fel-pro 1-piece pan seal, a couple dabs of black permatex in the corners before putting the seal in place and no more worries.

'80 L48.

I started with a badly cross-threaded oil pan drain plug. I went through two different aftermarket pans that never really sealed properly. The Milodon fixed it for good.

For your consideration: install a stock oil pump and pick up and new stock oil pan.
