Default Head light override ****?

There is a small black **** under the dash below the steering column. I believe this is to open the headlights, if they fail, on my 73. It seems frozen. Shoud it rotate, or go up and down? Thanks guys.

Hi F,
Yes, you pull it down to open the headlights without using the headlight switch.
Then push up to close them.
Regards,
Alan

You have to pull down fairly firmly to get it to move. I assume from your forum name you have a 73? It's good to mention in your question in case there are differences

There is also a trip odometer reset **** under the dash. The owner's manual shows it.

Thanks! I actually had to move that out of the way to install the new AC duct from Vintage air.

I didn't see that the first couple of times I read the question. I see it now though. Were you able to get the lights to pop up? I assume you know the engine needs to be running so you have vacuum?

The engine should be running soon I HOPE! Amazing the challenges that have popped up. I was putting the dash back together, and trying to understand the piece. Halfway expecting to replace it like so many other parts.
