Default sidepipes are the way

after going back and forth about under car or sidepipes I ordered maximizer non resonated sidepipes for my big block and plan on running classic chambered 3" inserts ! I hope I like them

yeah they are great but loud as hell.(I have the same pipes (also sold under the obx brand name)..
I often find myself going slow because the noise gives me the impression I'm going faster than I should be... and I have 2 1/4 sweet thunder chambered baffles on a high compression small block...

interesting choice! Love side pipes!

Would love to know how they sound when finished!

On my 454 4 speed convert 69...i contacted the guys at sweet thunder...and they advised using the C2 pipes for more flow and better sound...hopefully will be on in a couple weeks...

Just curious if something like these would work in a side pipe....you could add them together for quieter operation, and still get good flow @ 31/2" pipes....

it would work...in theory...but alot of fab work...

also, not sure you would want 3.5 or 4 inch pipes...unless race applications...
just crazy loud...

to each their own though...

587 RWHP and 640 FTLB through Hooker sidepipes W/ Maxflows. Keeping the cabin cooler and the looks are well worth the minimal power loss.

in my case I think they will help power over my current setup and give me much needed ground clearance since my car is lower than stock and look badass

your probably right about an under car system that is 3" mandrel bent but the exhaust shop in my area thinks his fingers are actually Midas's and worth gold so it was cheaper to go sidepipes I wasn't going to spend $2,000-@2,500 for exhaust!!!

That thread is from 2007. While I'm not 100% sure, I had read that hooker redesigned their sidepipes because the old ones had different length primaries which hurt performance....supposedly they are better tuned now... and I'm not sure how well the chinese copies (which are all the same from what I can find just marketed under different brands and prices with some having more cleanup work and better packaging) mentioned in this thread mimic those changes... when I compared photos I remember the hookers and the clones being slightly different.

I may try the more restrictive sweet thunder inserts...either that or an overdrive 200R4 if I can find a good deal on one.

Sidepipes!!

Hooker side tubes with their latest straight thru muffler inserts - maxflow - (but with custom over the frame headers)

And yes, overdrive is a fantastic way to quiet 'em down a bit.

side pipes are on with no inserts boy are they frickin loud ill order them this week. I had a couple of issues had to grind the flanges to clear head bolts and had to dent the number 3 pipe to get plug wrench and clear boot other than that they look good and my ten year old daughter spent a lot of the weekend helping with vette!!! awsome

Default C2 Side Pipes on a C3

I had Allen's Exhaust make me up a set of custom side pipes for my C3. Under the covers they are chambered like the C2's, but they are fitted with the retangular turnouts that the '69 style had.

So, they look like '69 side pipes, but they bark like a '67.
