Whatever you do, don't buy a commercially rebuilt carb. Other sources would be here from the forum, a swap meet, car club or ebay. I've purchased several from ebay for less than $50 and rebuilt them. The trick is to find the dirtiest most disgusting carb you can find. Those are the ones that have sat on a bench or an old motor for decades and haven't be taken apart and destroyed.

If you want one ready to go, no rebuilding necessary, theres not too many choices. You can get one from Jet Performance or a similar place or try to find one of the edelbrock ones from a few years ago(theyre still out there but getting tougher to find untouched). Jnb's advise is solid, find a nice core and rebuild it or send it to someone like Lars to have it rebuilt.

im running this one on my 79 L82, purchased about 5 years ago. has performed well, no issues. although the price is a little steep. Idles and runs fine for a commercial rebuilt one. mine has an elec. choke.

You could send it to Lars and be guaranteed that it is done correctly.

I bought a Lars-approved-to-rebuild carb off of ebay last year for $11. Picked another one up for just over $30. Look through ebay, if you find a likely candidate, send a link to Lars, he has the eyes of a hawk when it comes to QJets and he can tell you if you should buy it yesterday or if you should stay away! He is truly a living legend
