Default Clutch release bearing play.

Getting ready to install the new clutch in the Vette. Went with LUK Clutch kit 04-020. Decent kit aside from the clutch release bearing. The bearing that came with the kit had a collar the was made of a plastic composite. No way am I going to do all this work and put that weak looking thing in my car. So I bought another bearing. Timken 604018 (Made in the USA) Steel collar self aligning. There seems to be some lateral play (approximately .010 to .020) between the collar and outside of the bearing where it engages the pressure plate. Does this sound normal? Is this a characteristic common to self aligning release bearings? I've used Timken components many times in past and have never been disappointed.
