Default T-Top Leak

'79 with glass T-tops.

I have a significant leak from the T-top panels. With the panels installed you see light through the crack between the weatherstrip and s/s "T" trim along the front inboard.

The weatherstrips are fully intact even if one looks like it was slightly misaligned when installed on the car and is now almost permanently deformed.

I tried to remove the s/s "T" trim but after removing all fasteners it seemed to be firmly glued? in place. Is it supposed to be glued down?

As always, comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

on the top in that inboard front location, is there a tab that inserts into the windshield header and is that tab removable where you could insert shims to tighten its hold. I know on earlier C3's that is what is used.

Shimming (or similar) was exactly what I had in mind as that area of the s/s piece looks a bit low.

Unfortunately it seems to be VERY securely glued?/caulked? down--so well in fact that I feared damaging it if I pulled any harder to remove. That's why I asked if it supposed to be secured by something other than the screws.

I did not drill the two rivets at the rear of the piece as I intended to do that after the rest was freed.
