Default L46 corvette

Hi,can someone answer my question regarding my 1969 corvette? The 1969 owners manual states the L46 bore stroke is 4.00 x 3.48 comp ratio 11.0:1 350 timing mark 4. My engine I believe is an L46 my bore is 4.001x 3.48 and it times on the 8. I got that spec off a web site. Why is my timing mark 8 and not a 4 like the L46 and the manual states it should be a 4.

The base engine (350/300hp) timing at idle was 4* BTDC, the L46 (350/350hp) is 8* BTDC at idle.

The difference between 4.00 and 4.001 is miniscule. Close enough for gov'mint work.
