Power steering pump under alternatormounting bracket

Power steering pump under alternatormounting bracket
I have a '74 coupe, L-48 auto, A/C (c60) Power steering (N41) and power brakes. The power steering pump sits directly under the mount for the alternator making it impossible to lift the cap/dipstick of the power steering pump to check fluid level. The brackets appear to be exactly the ones shown in all the major supplier catalogs and everything lines up perfectly. The picture/diagram in the lower right on page 264 of Mid America's assembly manual shows my set up precisely.
I thought maybe the ps belt was stretched or too long but the pump is near it's shortest travel.I loosened it and pushed it away from the alternator but this only exposed about half the cap/dipstick and put the crank pulley within 1" of the ps pulley.
Richard Prince's resto manual shows a 454 BB with ps having the alternator mounted upside down to provide clearance but that's to clear the engine and doesn't move the bracket which is what covers up my ps pump.
What is wrong here?!!!

Burning Brakes
Yes, it is very tight and hard to get to.
That is the way it fits though. This is on my
mine.
