68 lower bumper attachment
The brackets for the lower bumper guard are missing but there is a flange on the lower valence that would be in the way if the bracket was installed. Non original front clip or is something out of alignment?

Hi p,
There is a small L shaped bracket that bolts to the forward cross-member for each of the bumper guards.
A bolt then passes through the front of each of those 2 brackets, through the fiberglass valence, and into a nut welded into the bottom each bumper guard.
There's a spacer/washer that's used on the bolt to prevent the torquing of the bolt from crushing the fiberglass.
Regards,
Alan

Hi,
Here's what I believe would be a typical installation.
Small, but heavy bracket, 2 bolts through bracket into front crossmember, 1 bolt going forward through black plastic spoiler, through fiberglass valance (with spacer to protect fiberglass), and into welded nut in lower end of bumper guard.
Regards,
Alan

Took the bumperettes off and found the bottom receiver bolt holes were shot, thus a reason for them not to be attached. Upon closer inspection I found the bolt holes in the valance were glassed over!!!! Not sure why.

Maybe you could drill them out and get the proper brackets and hardware that Alan shows and fix it.

Hi p,
It looks to me like there's more going on there than just filling the holes.
Perhaps the front end was tapped down low which would have pushed the bottom of the bumper guards back enough to damage the valance fiberglass?
Regards,
Alan
Maybe not too difficult a repair since there's good access to each side and the shape isn't too intricate.
