Default Turn signal switch replacement difficulty?

How difficult is it to change out the turn signal switch on a '79 with T&T column? Mine has lost its ability to return to the off center position and the lever fell off today. The deepest I've ever been in the column was to repair the horn.

It's really not all that hard. We always un-pin the lower connector and always use the old harness to pull the new through. Take your time and you'll get it.

There is a slight oversight in the video with respect to the early locking C3 steering columns as compared to the later ones.. The 1977 through 1982 T&T steering column is somewhat different than the 1969 through 1976 T&T steering column. The early columns (as shown in the video) had a completely round head. The later columns (and your 1979) had a square bulge on the left hand side of the column head. These later columns had a dimmer pivot switch that was actuated by the turn signal lever.

T&T columns with a bulge are different from the earlier columns (as shown in the video). They are different as follows:
Early - Turn signal lever has a male thread and screws into the turn signal switch.
Late - Turn signal lever plugs into the dimmer pivot assembly. This design requires a cross-over arm from the dimmer pivot to attach to the turn signal switch. The fact that your lever "fell off" means that you may require a dimmer pivot as well as a new turn signal lever.

Unfortunately, the dimmer pivot is not addressed in the video.
Jim
