Default 1981 5.7L Firing Order

Can someone post a diagram of the firing order for this engine? I've seen a couple of images on google showing it, but mine doesn't match and just want to be sure before messing with the wires.

the firing order is 18436572, do you mean the position of the wires in the cap?

The factory set the rotor pointing to #1 at #1 TDC. As long as the rotor is pointing at #1 when you start, it has no real effect.

So looking at my distributor, from the tach/batt connector going to the right, I have 1 sitting at the first post. According to the diagrams I have seen this is supposed to be 2 and the second one to the right of tach/batt is supposed to be 1. Am I correct in this? If my order is wrong, then how the hell is the engine even running?

Correct. Then it goes clockwise 18436572. 2 is right before the tach plug.
It's fine.

Well, then mine is wrong. 1 is right, but the rest are not. I don't know how the jacknut who sold me this even got it to run. I know 1 is right because after changing the intake gaskets I set 1 on compression stroke to 6 deg. pointing the rotor to 1. Guess I need to fix the rest. I can't say I've eveer seen an engine run on the wrong firing order. That would explain a lot of my issues.

Bing-friggin-o! Plugs 5 and 2 were crossed. Biotch is humming now! Got a few more tweaks to the carb and she'll be right. Thanks everyone for the assistance!
