Default ZZ4 Motor (angle heads): What type of Hooker headers/sidepipes will work?

Hi all, I'm Tony!

With a ZZ4 motor (it has angled heads), what type of hooker headers would work??

Keep in mind that I'm doing this because I want sidepipes. I would like the Hooker side-exhaust/sidepipes to be installed onto whichever headers work with the ZZ4....thats where i need some help figuring out which TYPE of hooker headers works?

(For an '81 vette)

As far as I know, Hooker only makes one header/sidepipe setup for the SBC. I have it and I have AFR L98 angle heads. I have no interferance problems between plugs and primary tubes. I will say that #2 is awfully close. If there was a problem, I'd probably switch to an Accell "shorty" plug.

The Hooker header / Sidepipes fit fine on the ZZ4... a few plugs will be tough to change... but otherwise there is no problemo!

Default Revisit Discussion

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking to do the same thing (Use Hooker side exhaust with ZZ4). Most places I've looked or reps I've spoke with say you can't use these headers withe the ZZ4, or if you do you will have to make some dings in headers for plugs to fit. Some of you indicate that this is possible. Those of you that have, could you please let me know if you had to make any modifications to the headers? Were you able to get all the plugs in without making any dings? Are there any recommendations for other brands to use besides Hooker that would work? Thanks in advance! I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Fit PERFECTLY, no "dings" required. No problems with any plugs.

Default Hooker headers

Thanks to all. Going to take my Hedmans off tonight and try to put on the old hooker headers that came off the original engine. Will post the results.
