They look nice and I've been curious about the LED headlights recently. Post a pic of the beams up against a wall so we can see the cut off. Those housings may be a nice cheaper alternative to the hellas.

I have hella euro lenses in mine wish 55w hids. I've never been flashed and they put out a great bit of light. I have yellow 55w halogen bulbs in the centers. The hids have angle higher when I hit the brights. Hids only required a relay which is wise to do no matter what so your switch won't have much of a load on it. Other than the relay it was a plug and play set up, not hacking housings.

Regular...before I aligned the lights....note the cut off, no blinding people!

With having HIDs in your low beams when you switch to highs is there a third element in the HIDs? So it would be on high along with the inboard beams?

On this set of hids, each bulb has a solenoid and is wired so when you hit the brights they move to a higher position to be "street legal" for those who use these bulbs w/out dedicated high beams. When my brights are on the hids (outer, w/solenoid in "bright" position) and yellow halogens (inner) are on at same time.

Hey, can you give us an update on how your headlights are working? Like most C3 owners I'm in desperate need of upgrading my headlights. I like the look of this set up, but the price kind of scares me. It just seems too good to be true, kind of makes me question the quality. I've had several vehicles with HIDs/LEDs that I've installed from reputable brands, and you cant even get the bulbs, ballasts and relays for 2 headlights for the price Octane is selling the entire kit for all 4 headlights for.

As I said, your car looks great, I'm just curious to see how everything is holding up. Thanks!

I too am running LEDs in my Hella lowbeams and they make a huge digfference. I would be interested in the high beams so which headlights are you running for the highs?

Hey Dennis, great post! Looking to do the same. Are you still happy with this set-up? Are you blinding drivers or do the lights have a nice cut-off.

I liked them alot but I upgraded again to projector headlights

http://www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numbe...-lmz-2863.html

https://www.dapperlighting.com/colle...nt=25176256712

Projector is adjustable for height, this set up is soooo coooool and no one flashes there brights at me. Diiference between the old set and these, these are true projector and give you a even wider angle on the sides. A little pricey but worth it. I had to open the opening in the headlamp housing of the car, the projector headlamp has more depth.

They have halo but I did not use them

I used then on hot rod power tour (3000 mile trip) plenty of night driving with my son in front of me and my brother in law in front of me other times. Both said the light from my car was not blinding or bothersome. My son drove the car at night and wants to upgrade his C5 to these.

Cool, can you post a picture of cutoff up against a garage/wall and housing setup?

I am very curious about these lights you switched to; do you have any pics of them on the car? How much of the housing did you have to cut to fit them?

Projectors usually have a sharp cut off, and I have noticed that on two of my friends C5's that have converted to projectors there is a lot of flicker - not sure why, but I have wondered if it is because they are pop-up headlights and there is some play in the housings even when they are fully open. Long story short - have you noticed any flicker with the projectors?

Very interesting links....I have Hella Euro Halogens 55/60 watt lows and 100 watt highs on my 78 since 1983....yes 1983! I don't drive the 78 much at night anymore but did put these awesome projector HID's in the STOCK housing of my 2001 Grand Prix a few years ago...ever drive with stock GP headlights? Candles

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...rsal-kits.html

These real HID projectors throw light like an OEM HID projector with zero glare...lot of work to install but incredible light with an OEM appearance...pretty neat...Check it out!

You have to cutthe bucket to the inner circle in rear of bucket and the alluminum in the housing. Lenses are deaper because of projector but no rewiring

To eliminate flicker the headlamps have an adjustment actuator rod for height, remove 4 springs and you need to turn the rod out two times and hold headlamp up and put bolt back through rod. This will not hurt
actuator and headlamp is rock solid in the up position. I did this on my 1980 back in 80 and never had a problem with actuators. that car was a daily driver

Remove 4 screws 2 on top and 2 on the sides of each housing, then 3 screws hold each headlamp ring in place. Look at pictures in thread and you will see what i'm talking about.

Here's a better shot of end result

Because photofuckit uses some stupid program that dislikes some spam/popup blocker I refuse to disable, I can't see any of the pix in this thread....and Photo....used to take forever and a day to d/load one silly pix, I not click on them any more.....

however, my stock lights on my '72 got wiped out by a damn Florida/small deer one night almost 20 years ago, put in Ecklers sugar scoops, with the tall squared off bulbs......then a Verizon truck backed into my bumper and I filled in the large openings in that repair go round.....and moved the lights forward about 1/2 way so the holes are now just 1/2 as large, and went the later short rectangular lights from a later Camaro.....and the two bulbs I got from that junkyard raid were burnt out lo beams, high's were ok.....so I went to the parts house and bought some halogen bulbs that were a direct plug/glue in replacement for that GLASS housing......

relays in wiring....and directly off the alternator.....

see pix below.....
