Removing the alt belt at the track for runs..
Anyone do this? Not sure if I got enough juice for the MSD unit without the alt running. Just thought that it would eliminate the chance of throwing a belt and cutting my hose and trashing anything else. Once the run is over I could just throw it back on. I have a belt that runs from just the crank to the water pump so I would still have the water pump going.

i think theres a belt protector (early year c3's???) that would save your upper radiator hose...
i go through motor mounts like crazy cuase i drive like a maniac and itll start to eat at the upper radiator hose...
i found one at carquest that has a much better bend than the replacement ones that i have gotten from any other autoparts stores....

My belts stay on to 7000 rpm. If you are throwing belts something is not lined up or belt is not adjusted right.
daily driver: If your are going through motor mounts install the poly or solid mounts and you should be OK. The poly mounts with the locking feature are good and don't shake the car like solids. They are stiffer than rubber but not as hard as solid

Have run to 5500 rpm's with no problems but not sure about 6500 with the new set up. Guess I'll just have to take it up there and find.

My alternator belt also spins the water pump. All you need is new belts and correct tracking alignment. Most cars don't spit belts till 7000+ and rock hard shifts. Then you just buy the smaller crank shaft pully to reduce the rpm of the alt/power steering/water pump. I also buy belts (gates) than ride way down in the pulley V.
What kind of tires are you going to be using.

Just the ones I got, Dunlop Radial GT Qualifiers I believe. This is just for fun and I don't expect anything but some cool burn outs and some fun runs. Just got the engine back together so I will be easy on it. Just happens forum members are renting a track 20 minutes from me Monday night and I decided to give it a go.

i used a FORD alt. pulley, it is a little larger so it spins maybe 10% slower. It is the ONLY Ford part on the car :yesnod:
