Default Fan Speed Ideas

I have all speeds but the high speed on the blower fan. Here is what I know.

- The fuse on the orange wire is good
- On high or really all speeds the orange wire on the blower relay is +12
- The resistor pack appears to be good and it ohm's out ok.

If I have all the lower speeds the blower motor is good - correct?

I am thinking the blower relay has a problem. Thoughts or what to ck is appreciated.

The orange wire is always hot, providing the fuse is good going to the horn relay connection.
Does the hi speed fan relay operate when you switch to hi speed?

On my '71, when the relay operates, it connects the orange wire (12v) to the purple wire (power wire to the fan).

That I will have to ck later today as to the purple going hot on high speed. If not I would suspect the relay. Thx

You would be right. The relay has two positions, one for high (12v) and one that runs the power through the resistors for all your other speeds. That relay can be purchased at most auto part stores. I just had to replace mine a month or so ago.

It was a while back on actually two of my Vettes, and I can't remember if my problem was NO high speed or ONLY high speed.
Opened up the relay and dragged a piece of sandpaper through the contact points.
Fixed it.

Sure worth a try since I have +12 on the orange. Thanks
